Ma olen means I am. Use on for one person or thing: Kohvik on väike. Estonian normally leaves out articles such as a and the.
Nouns have no articles
Learn the noun itself: kohvik, uks, laud, tass, foto, kohv, and sai. Estonian does not have words for a or the.
Place endings
Kohvikus means in the cafe, and Haapsalus means in Haapsalu. The ending carries the meaning that English expresses with a separate preposition.
ütleb marks speech
Ütleb means says. Maret ütleb can introduce her words, while ütleb Maret can follow them.
Haapsalu is old.
