Icelandic has no indefinite article. Kaffihús can mean a café, and borð can mean a table.
The noun ending
The definite article attaches to the noun: kaffihús becomes kaffihúsið, and borð becomes borðið.
Adjective agreement
Adjectives change with the noun. Hurðin er opin, but kaffihúsið er opið.
Anna is here.
Here is Seyðisfjörður.
Here is a small café.
Grandma's café is here.
Anna is at the café now.
The door is open.
"Hello?" Anna says.
The café is small but open.
Here is a table.
A coffee cup is on the table.
Anna says: "I am here, Grandma."
"Good day," Sigríður says.
Sigríður is at the café.
Sigríður bakes bread.
Bread is on the table.
Anna drinks coffee.
"My name is Anna," Anna says.
"My name is Sigríður," Sigríður says.
Sigríður bakes Grandma's bread.
Anna says: "Grandma and Sigríður."

Grandma's coffee cup is on the table.

"Thank you," Anna says.
Sigríður says: "Will you stay here?"
Anna is here now.
The door is open.
The café is small and open.
"Yes," Anna says.
"I will stay here for now."
Anna stays, and the door is open.
