In a rural village in Cambodia, there lived a beautiful young woman and a handsome young man. They loved each other and decided to marry.Soon after the wedding, the rains began. It rained for many days until, finally, the sky cleared.As the couple walked to their parents' homes, they left footprints on the muddy path.Suddenly, a rat snake appeared. It had poison in its tongue. The rat snake knew that if it flicked its tongue on the footprints left on the ground, the person who left the footprints could die. The rat snake flicked its tongue on the footprints of the beautiful bride and, soon after, she died.
