Before you read
Ir and nav

Ir means is or are. Nav means is not or are not, as in kafejnīca nav atvērta.

Adjective agreement

Kafejnīca and kafija are feminine, so they take maza, veca, laba, and atvērta. Plural durvis take vecas and atvērtas.

Location endings

Latvian locations often end in a long vowel. Kuldīgā means in Kuldīga, and virtuvē means in the kitchen.
